Primrose BB - This exuberant 1892 Queen Anne Victorian house was built by Dr. Isaac Porter Primrose, and was once the Doctors office and the home of his family. The house has fabulous oak trim and floors, colorful stained glass transoms, and original kitchen cabinets with marble counter-top. After being a residence for well over a century, the house has now been completely restored as a Bed and Breakfast. Four colorful Guest rooms offer private baths, several of which have required very creative plumbing!
The Hyde house became the home of Dr. Jerry Morris Hyde and the Hyde Family descendants for almost 90 years. Originally built by Dr. I. P. Primrose for his daughter Sarah and her new husband, it was sold to Dr. Hyde in 1890. The two doctors were friends, neighbors and also partners in several Nelsonville real estate ventures. When the last Hyde descendant passed away in 1977, the house became a succession of homes, rentals and student housing, until it was rescued and beautifully restored as a Bed Breakfast by Michael and Sheila Mark in 2006. In 2009 long-time Bed Breakfast entrepreneur and history lover Sue Maxwell became owner. Sue carried own the BB tradition until 2016. Sue owns the Primrose Bed Breakfast across the street. Carrying on Sue's tradition we hope you enjoy being able to Sleep with History at the Hyde House in Nelsonville!
