Is there an admission charge for visiting the Hocking Hills parks?
No, all of the state parks in Ohio are free; as is Clear Creek Metro park and the Wayne National Forest.
Are dogs allowed in the parks?
Yes, pets are allowed in State Parks on leashes. However, pets are not allowed in State Nature Preserves, which includes Conkle's Hollow and Rockbridge Nature Preserves. Pets are allowed on access ways at Clear Creek Metro Park, but they are not allowed on the nature trails.
What hours are the parks open?
Parks close at dark. For special night hike opportunities, check out Hocking Hills State Park's naturalist program schedule, which in summer months sometimes include night hikes.
Which areas allow access via wheelchair?
Two of the park areas, Ash Cave and Conkle's Hollow, have portions of their trails that are handicapped accessible.
Are there any pet friendly restaurants?

Are there any guided tours available?

Is swimming allowed in the park?
Swimming is not allowed in the park's waterfalls or streams, but there is a beach at Lake Logan and a swimming pool at the campground.
What should I do if I encounter wildlife?
Observe from a distance, do not feed the animals, and stay on marked trails.
Are there facilities for picnicking?
Yes, almost every park has a picnic area with tables and grills available. Most are first come first serve, but a few are available for reservation through the ODNR.
What should I bring with me when hiking?
Bring plenty of water, snacks, sturdy shoes, and a first aid kit. Trails differ in difficulty level, so a good rule of thumb is to check out the details here before you leave.
How can I report an emergency in the park?
Call 911 or contact the park rangers. Emergency contact numbers are posted throughout the park. Mobile service will be limited, so it’s always recommended to bring a hiking buddy.
Are drones allowed in the park?
Drones are prohibited to protect wildlife and the natural beauty of the park.
What is the best time of year to visit?
Fall is popular for the vibrant foliage, but spring and summer offer lush greenery and flowing waterfalls. Winter provides a peaceful experience with snow-covered trails.

Yes, local vendors offer rentals for hiking gear, kayaks, ATV’s and other outdoor equipment.
How do I get to Hocking Hills State Park?
The park is located in southeastern Ohio, and directions can be easily found using GPS or maps. It’s about an hour’s drive from Columbus.

The park does not have restaurants, but there are several eateries in the surrounding area listed here. Perhaps pack for a picnic to be enjoyed at one of the several picnic sites within the park.

Maps are available at the visitor center and online. It’s recommended to carry one while hiking.
What should I do if the trails are crowded?
Visit less popular trails, go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, or consider visiting during weekdays to avoid crowds.

Yes, restrooms are located at the trailheads and visitor center.
Can I ride a bike in the park?
Biking is not allowed on hiking trails but is permitted on designated bike trails and park roads.
