Professional Naturalist, Kathie Livingston of Nature Adventures and Mimi Morrison of TOUCH the EARTH ADVENTURES have been conducting kayaking and hiking expeditions for over 15 years. Together, they will lead you on journeys to explore the flora, fauna and treasures of the surrounding area. Many of their journey's have been publicized and have repeat clientele, yearly. All lodging, arrangements and most meals are included for your ease. All you have to do is show up! Leave your worries behind, relax and Touch the Earth for 7 fun filled wonderful days!

Day 1 - Arrival at Beautiful Lakeside Cabin in Glenville, NC

Day 2  - Waterfall Kayaking Adventure on Lake Glenville,  the highest elevation lake in the Continental United States!  Nestled deep in the valley is a beautiful aqua green lake with 26 miles of shoreline. Our journey begins on a paddle to a beautiful waterfall where we play among the rocks and endless cascading water! Then we journey to an island in the middle of the lake for lunch! Afterwards we paddle to another waterfall and end the day with a delicious fireside meal, a toasty marshmallow roast and campfire guitar and vocal music!

Day 3 - Hiking the Whiteside Mountain Trail. Hiking day on a 3.5 mile loop hike rated as moderate difficulty with elevation gain of 500 feet. Believed by some to be the oldest mountain in the world. From its peak of 4.930 feet find yourself overwhelmed with a stunning view. Take time to relax on top to savor the day from the tabletop called the sitting down place by the Native Americans.

Day 4 Options choose one.

Day 4 - Easy Whitewater Kayaking on the Tuckaseege or Nantahala Rivers. Summer Only. No Experience necessary! Depending on water levels, we will journey into Dillon, NC or to Bryson City where we will embark on a wonderful kayaking adventure of only 1 and 2 class rapids. Accompanied by an American Canoe Association River Kayaking Instructor, you can leave your worries behind. This is a relaxing paddle. Along the way we will swim in the clear, cool waters with Mountain trout, and will discover the beautiful geology of the sparkling rocks beneath our feet!

Day 4 Hiking Retreat - Spend another beautiful day hiking to discover area waterfalls and mountain flora. Hike down to Glen Falls an easy 1-mile down and a moderately strenuous 1-mile back up gaining 700 feet. Three major waterfalls descend along your way and countless smaller ones as well. Time beside the waterfalls clears your mind and soul and refreshes your being. Finish the day with several shorter hikes to explore the nearby area.

Day 5 - Wild-Woman Adventure Day!  (other options available this day) Join Mimi and Kathie on their wild woman adventure!.....Go Deep Creek Tubing on Deep Creek (summer only) in the Smoky Mountain National Park. Ride the creek for over 2 miles down small cascading waterfalls and touch the earth, literally with mind, body and soul. Lots of laughter, guaranteed. Tubes have solid plastic bottoms! Afterwards, take a hike with Mimi along the riverside trail. Special Evening Entertainment.

Day 6 - "On Your Own"... Go Shopping and exploring the mountain towns of Highlands and Cashiers! - Several waterfalls along the way to drive to and through!.. Unique local antique and specialty shops and restaurants.

Day 7 - Hiking day to see additional falls of the area. Celebrate the 4th of July high on a mountaintop with us to see the wonderful fireworks in the Cashiers and Highlands valleys!  Saturday depart for home

Led by Mimi and Kathie Livingston, this six-day trip combines kayaking on a high mountain lake with 26 miles of shoreline, hiking a section of the Foothills Trail along the Blue Ridge Escarpment and tubing for two miles on Deep Creek. An optional easy whitewater kayaking or second hiking day and “on your own” day leave plenty of time for sightseeing and exploring area waterfalls, wildflowers and unique mountain culture. We spend nights in a lakeside cabin. You are in for an ADVENTURE.
