Hocking Soil and Water Conservation District
Overview
The Hocking Soil & Water Conservation District is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., observing all federal holidays. The Hocking SWCD was organized April 5, 1944 after the passage of the Ohio Soil conservation Act. Our purpose is to help bring about conservation and development, with the wise use of land, water and other related resources. The District is funded by the county and also receives state matching funds. The District originally provided assistance to local farmers to improve conservation methods and has since expanded to include assistance to all resident within the county. A board of five supervisors, who serve without pay, are elected by county residents and landowners; they direct and help plan the District's activities.
