April/May 2015 marks the 45th anniversary of the shootings at Kent State University. This even sparked protests on college campuses across the United States, including Athens. Ohio University did not immediately shut down after the shootings in Kent. They stayed open for 11 days before clashes between students and law enforcement forced the Ohio National Guard to Athens in an attempt to restore order. President Claude Sowle then shut down the campus and send the students home. This chronicles those tumultuous 11 days in Athens through beautiful, black and white images. The Sky Has Fallen is based largely on the images taken by Ken Steinhoff, a photographer for the Athens Messenger. Refreshments will be provided.
