730 pm. Charles Darwin The Secret Life of a Reluctant Revolutionary. David Quammen is a freelance journalist and author who travels widely on assignment, usually to jungles, deserts, and swamps. A National Geographic contributor, he wrote the Megatransect series, covering ecologist Mike Fay's epic walk across Africa, and the award-winning feature, Was Darwin Wrong. His work has appeared in Harper's, National Geographic, The Atlantic, National Geographic Adventure, Outside, The New York Times Book Review, and in the Best American Science Writing 2005 along with several other such collections. His books include novels, essay-compilations and nonfiction, notably The Song of the Dodo and The Reluctant Mr. Darwin. He's also general editor of On the Origin of Species The Illustrated Edition, a decorative reissue of Charles Darwin's great work. Quammen has received an American Academy of Arts and Letters award, among others, and holds the Wallace Stegner chair of Western American Studies at Montana State University. The Frontiers in Science Lecture Series is funded by a contribution to the Ohio University Foundation from Jeanette Grasselli Brown and Glenn R. Brown. and is also supported by the Ohio University Kennedy Lecture Series.
