Native Medicinal Plant Walk and Survey
Aug 9, 2014 10am - 12pm. Explore AOA's beautiful Demonstration Site in Rockbridge as we walk the property and survey and identify native medicinal herbal plants growing on the site. This event is co-sponsored by United Plant Savers. We will learn about our native medicinal herbs from trip lead and plant expert Erika Galentin, Outreach Coordinator for United Plant Savers. We will look for and observe plants such as ginseng, golden seal and black cohosh and find out about their preferred habitats. All participants will be given a packet of black cohosh seed collected from United Plant Savers Goldenseal Sanctuary in Meigs County. Feel free to pack a sack lunch and stay afterwards and enjoy the peace and serenity of the forest environs. Rain or shine - so please come prepared and dress appropriately for the weather and hiking on slopes.
