![]() "Imagination is everything!" - Albert EinsteinMsi-kah-mi-qui: a praying place (Shawnee)...a pristine chapel This natural plateau, centered above the immense semi-circular floor of Ash Cave, has been an inspiration to man's imagination evidently "since the dawn of conscience" - according to earliest explorers who noted "its already well-worn trail". | Much has been written about Ash Cave...from many perspectives: historical, geological, sociological, statistical, botanical, political, religious, and just plain recreational. Perhaps not so surprising, the first pressures for the public ownership and preservation of the site as a park came from religious interests. However, EACH individual observer will see it differently; and as natures seasons change, as well as the seasons of his own life change, his viewpoint surges to new proportions. From "the big sandbox house" of childhood, to "the place of enchantment" of the romantic years, to "a place of majesty and awe" as knowledge and depth of understanding grow, Ash Cave can always present a fresh outlook for the wonderer. |
